On or around September 24, 2025, the OCC published the OCC Mortgage Metrics Report for the Second Quarter of 2025. This Report covers Mortgage Servicing by providing data by highlighting in charts the number of loans in delinquency and foreclosures, completed foreclosure actions, number of re-defaults and loans modified.
Highlighted excerpts below copied and pasted:
- The percentage of seriously delinquent mortgages - mortgages that are 60 or more days past due and all mortgages held by bankrupt borrowers whose payments are 30 or more days past due - decreased from the second quarter of 2024.
- Servicers initiated 7,163 new foreclosures in the second quarter of 2025 showing a decrease from the previous quarter and an increase from a year earlier.
- Home forfeiture actions during the second quarter of 2025— completed foreclosure sales, short sales, and deed-in-lieu-of-foreclosure actions— decreased 3.2 percent from a year earlier to 1,859.
- Servicers completed 8,419 modifications during the second quarter of 2025, a 6.7 percent increase from the previous quarter's 7,889 modifications.
- Of these 8,419 modifications, 7,968, or 94.6 percent, were "combination modifications" - modifications that included multiple actions affecting the affordability and sustainability of the loan, such as an interest rate reduction and a term extension.
