Bucks County, Pennsylvania Department of Consumer Protection Issues Warning to Consumers About Fake and Deceptive Mortgage Letters

The Bucks County, Pennsylvania Department of Consumer Protection has issued a warning to its resident-homeowners who may be/ have received a recent “mortgage-assistance” letter from a company, who is posing as a government agency and called The Mortgage Help Center The letters appear credible, because they may include information from public property records and include lender names, account numbers, account balances, property addresses, and homeowner names.

Unfortunately, these scams are growing more common with the increasing sophistication of scammers. Thus, we anticipate that our clients could experience an increase in inquiries from homeowners/customers who have received these letters and are questioning their legitimacy. The Bucks County Department of Consumer Protection can be contacted at 1-888-942-8257. Bucks County is the fourth most populous county in the state of Pennsylvania.
